Miles and Miles To Go

For those of you who have no idea who I am, Hi! I’m Halli, and if you’re having some trouble sounding my name out in your head, think Halle Berry, or the American Lindsay Lohan in The Parent Trap.  I’m 19, and currently a second year English/Writing Studies major at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi (TAMUCC).

With this blog, I’m planning to journal my way through college, as well as give my honest take on making my way into the world of professional writing. And let me tell you, I have no idea what I’m doing.  I’m sure anyone further into life than me understands what I mean when I say that there’s no instruction manual to starting a career, and being in school for so long trains us to assume there will always be someone to tell us what to do, there will always be someone to answer our questions.  A professor of mine calls this ‘Educational Malpractice’, we’re trained by schooling to think whatever our higher up is thinking, but what happens to us when there’s no higher up?

Well, you turn into me, a lost college student waiting for someone to tell her what to do.

I have so much to learn and figure out for myself, so consider this a pseudo-scientific approach to life, I’m documenting my attempts, learning from my mistakes, and offering that knowledge to the public.

So, as I learn, I’ll post, and you can learn with me!

This is just a short little intro post to my blog, but in future posts you can look forward to:

  • Book reviews
  • Literary analysis
  • Personal stories, chronicling my journey into writer-hood
  • Other literary / English major related content

I look forward to taking this journey with you, we’ve got miles to go!

layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or didd you customize it yourself?
